Gasp — In Hiding
The release features two tracks in all, and each of theses fall around the twenty minute mark. I guess it’s best to describe what we have here as tense & fixed walled noise, built around theme fitting noise textures. Each of the tracks is themed around a certainly scene in the movie, when Zito is stalking his terrified female prey.
So first up we have “Restroom Trap”, and this track brings together a low down brooding ‘n’ rumbling drone texture, and a medium depth line of static crackle- both elements remain in a fixed state through out the tracks running time. The drone very much brings to mind the distant sound of a tube or train line(the scene this track is themed around takes place in a tube station toilet/ rest room), and the static crackle has a nice feeling of tension about it- all making this ‘wall’ both sonically fitting & entrancing.
“Whispers From The Apartment” presents a ‘wall’ that brings together a fixed ‘n’ dense billowing, and a smaller grained circular ‘n’ fixed wind like crackle. This ‘wall’ has a great taut & tense feeling about it, and it fits perfectly the feeling of a terrorized victim hiding from a blood thirsty killer, or been stalked through a night time apartment block.
I must say I most enjoyed this release, as each track was effectively taut & entrancing, managing to nicely capture the vibe of the films selected scenes. So I very much look forward to hearing more from this project in future- to find out more about this & other releases on this HNW sub label of France’s Ink Runs Recordings pop along here
