Forced Stasis/Rumonoise — Split
Here’s a two-way wall noise/ wallish harsh noise split- each party severs up between a twenty & thirty-minute track, and each is as searing and dense as the other. Featured are Slovakia’s Forced Stasis and Turin’s Rumonoise.
This is a digital release on Portland’s Basement Corner Emissions. Cover artwork: we have a fairly abstract art, which could either be a large, red-hot lump of metal, or a close-up picture of something just pulled out of the fire…so it’s fitting enough for the ear-roasting sonics within.
We open with Forced Stasis “Noise Sediments”, which slides in at the twenty-minute mark. This is a searing and constantly rolling mix of tumbling lows, cluttering mids, and baying highs- which sounds like continual slipping ‘n’ screaming brake pads. It’s a great full on/ intense slice of noisemaking, with the higher-toned harsh noise elements working well with the wall base.
Next is Rumonoise’s “RNS2609250300”- this comes in at the thirty-minute mark. This track is the more formally wall-like of the two tracks here, though there are some subtly/ less constant harsh noise elements. The track is built around a thick weave of purring ‘n’ buzzing lows & churning/ galloping mids, with hissing, shredding, billowing, and skipping sub-tone detail.
The art of making decent/compelling wallish harsh noise has been somewhat lost over the past five or so years, so it’s great to see a split like this. As both tracks are great, making for a nicely brain-sawing split.
