Fecalove — Animal

Fecalove’s Erection was one of my favourite of last years noise releasers with its mix of jarring field recordings and inventive noise matter, Animal is a much more nasty, vicious and degrading affair. Where Erection was sleazy and sexlised, it was still fun, Animal is like dropping into the mind of a sexual deviate and swimming around for an hour or so- you climb out feeling dirty, disturbed and a little worn down- but still been impressed by his sonic flare and creativity.

But first things first as soon as you get the cd packaging  in your hands you get a nasty and unpleasant surprise, not because of the artwork or lyrical content, oh no. Inside the cd sleeve is some kind of human hair and it’s certainly not head hair!- so we either talking either beard hair or pubic hair!. Anyway moving on to the sonic content with-in the jarring field recordings of Erection have all but gone- instead the tracks often focus on fairly simply ear sineging and eye smarting grimy electronic tones which saw your skull, to which often are added ranted sexualised and violent texts, lyrics sheet are enclosed so you pick up every depravity . I guess closet comparison would be Whitehouse (for the vocal tracks) before they got more sophisticated, but this is far from a rip-off. No Fecalove manage to beat, ejaculate and violently inflict their own edge on the sound.

But that’s not say all the tracks here are ridden with verbal perversion, a good half are vocal-less and theses really do more for me. Take the exellent opener and title track which mixers electro ear popping rumbles and sonic whines with lonesome and discordant flute or pipe trails- to give a very uneasy opening into this fleshly abused slit of a record. Or 9334,30 sickly and sinister bent music boxes or harmioca  harmonics meets brutalised electro noise storm flaying- that is really highly effective in it’s degrading and sleazy feel. Or the 22 minute searing collection of high pitch noise tones and lower jabbering earthquake ripping Sonics that is Sporoco, which  well and truly puts you through the sound mill and is guaranteed to make even the toughest noise heads smart and winch here 'n' there.

Really a collection of tracks that shows Fecalove trying new terror tactics and sonic perversions out. Though I don’t enjoy this as much as Erection, Animal certainly shows Fecalove is far from a flash in the pan- he a highly talented if highly disturbed artists who's is building his own sick and depraved sonic world.
