Errant Static — Faint Imprint Of A False Deity
Faint Imprint Of A False Deity severs up three walls, each blends crude ‘n’ crusty weight with smaller jittering ‘n’ juddering detail. Each wall hits dead on the twenty-minute mark, and I believe this is my first taster of the work of this Portland, Oregon project.
The artwork of this digital release takes in a black and blood red-tinted slide film image of a wide head & weird- fingered figure. All bring to mind sinister embryonic-like experimentation.
First up, we have “False Imprint” Here, we find a mix of rapidly shredding ‘n’ light cluttering low end, and these tighter/ smaller/ jittering tones. It brings to mind some huge body-crushing stone roller going over and over you, and then ever so often, bits of flesh get stuck, then snapped off. It’s a weighty, yet semi-invigorating ‘wall’.
Next is “Fade Away”- here we find a speeding chugging/ churn, meeting this calky dragging/ jittery tone. This feels akin to tumbling through a mechanically shifting landscape of large rocks- as your eyes & skin smart from dusty/ shunting atmosphere.
The third and final track is “Faint Deity”. This blends similar low rolling ‘n’ shunting tones, with smaller buffeting/ tearing tones.
Again, there is a machine-like quality to the track. With one's mind filling with imagery of shaking, shuddering, and shredding material.
Faint Imprint Of A False Deity is best heard on a pair of decent headphones- so you can pick out/ hear the smaller/ subtle elements. This is my first taster of Errant Static, and I will most certainly be checking more out.
