ELEKTR0BATHUntilted( August 2024)

[Self release — 2023]
Reviewed 16 August 2024by Roger Batty

Here’s another untitled release from Warsaw Poland’s ELEKTR0BATH. For the last year or so- once or twice a month- this walled noise project has been putting out a release with the same monochrome picture of a bowl of flowers, and the same title- an interesting idea, though not quite sure how one identifies one from another!?...anyway this one is from 9th of August 2024.

All of these untitled releases are out in digital-only format- appearing on the projects band camp. Following this link to check it out

Both tracks come in dead on the ten-minute mark. First, we have "Untitled A"- this is a nicely overloaded/ hazed blend of mid-paced rattling, rapid bubbling, and manically skittering jitter. This is a ‘wall’ that is rather difficult to follow/ find layered detail in- at points it almost becomes a noise whiteout, though if you do manage to focus well enjoyment can be found from trying to follow the patterns.

Next, we have "Untitled B"- here we find a more clearly defined ‘wall’. It brings together a taut ‘n’ tense sound map of rattling rip, locked hiss/ whistle, and light subtone buffet. Unlike the first track, each element is clearly defined/ mixed, and of the two tracks I’d say this stands out- as the textures utilized are fairly distinctive/ rewarding, and due to the mixing/ balance, it’s easier to take in what’s going on.

Untitled is another rewarding enough release from ELEKTR0BATH. Though I’m not sold on the way it’s putting out its input- as it’s seemingly very potluck what type of walls you get on each release, and how on earth do you distinguish one from the other?.
