Drywall — Barbeque Babylon
Drywall is the brainchild of Ex Wall of voodoo main man Stan Ridgeway, along with Pietra Wexstun and Rick king. As well as a large cast of musically helpers- All making a highly enjoyable and varied ride. Goin down to the BBQ merges Cajun like vibe, with very nice merry accordion pumped out fairground tune and all manner of funny sounds. Wargasm 2005 mixes twitchy Devo vibe, and harmonica licks and ends with spoken word echoed dialogue that very much brings to mind Zappa's Lumpy Gravy.
Land of spook mixes electro pump with vocal samples and funky bass wows and all manner of synth wish and hover. Something gonna blow cleverly merges Bush altered dialogue .that goes from amusing to sinister. over country come bassy background and flute hover that tips into an almost American Indian vibe towards to. It brings to mind the musically backing from Bill Laswell’s Material's backing for William Burroughs text on the road to the westernlands.
A highly enjoyable and thought proving trip. Aptly mixing all manner of musical flavour and tone. Of interest to those who enjoy quirky clever song writing, with a sneering and humouress vocal delivery.
