Die Reitenden Leichen — Bored & Dirty
The tape features two side long tracks, and both tracks are a walled noise tribute to the kings of true old school Norwegian black metal Darkthrone. The tape comes in a distinctive black ink on red card cover, and features a drawing of corpse paint covered face in front of a human skull.
The first sides track starts off being built around a mixture of deeper juddering noise tone that’s weaved with a crisper & thinner jittering noise texture. Underneath these two tones is this constant rolling & subterranean type noise drone texture. By around the 5th minute a more ripping/ muffled juddering mid-range static glazed noise tone has raised-up in the ‘wall’, and this nicely intensifies the crusty urgency of the ‘wall’. By the 8th minute this new tone has taken on an urgent crackling thunder like feel, and another few juddering & ripping sub-tones are added making the ‘wall’ even more intense. The ‘wall’ here is full, tense & nicely urgent in it’s feel, and I like the way Mr Nihil adds in more tones over time to just keep building & building the tracks intensity.
Onto side two and the track opens with a huge sounding meaty/ crusty judder that seems to fill & batter both your hearing & the space between your brain & skull. Around this main & very dense central tone you have shadowy rumbling sub-tones, and a few crisper jittering textures. At around the three & a half minute mark a more pronounced mid- ranged jitter has entered & this has an almost junk like feel to it- this element trail's through the ‘wall’ in a fixed state, untill around the sixth minute when it switchers to a more high-end jitter/ fan-belt slipping tonality. By the 10th minute this tone has turned even more chugging & almost sputtering in it’s feel. In it’s last few minutes the track returns to a sort of uniformed & huge sounding juddering crustiness.
So to sum-up “Bored & Dirty” offers up two tracks of brutal, dense & intense walled noise that subtle shift along each tracks length. Another consistent & rewarding release from this German project.
