De-Sartre — Destruyendo Una Obra de Arte
Destruyendo Una Obra de Arte is a C30/ digital download which brings together to brutally ripping 'n' rattling examples of the walled noise form. It was originally released early 2019 as a digital DL only, but here on Void Singulator Recordings, it gets a physical release.
De-Sartre is the project Chilean noisemaker Matías Morales- it began life in 2016 and seemingly dabbles in both wall noise & harsh noise. According to Discogs the projects has put out two full-lengths, and two full length splits- as well as few shorter releases- as far as I can recall this is the first release I’ve heard from De-Sartre, and I must say I was fairly impressed.
Each side of tape features a single track- and first, up on side one we have "Contemplar"- this is built around a very taut 'n' tense blend of crisp & crusty judder, sustained purring drone, and brutally rattling sub tones. This blend creates a great feeling of streamlined & focused brutality, which is edged with touches of nasty industrial , yet sonically serrated wall noise power. Sure it’s not the most complex, creative, or clever bit of wall composition- but as gut-level sonic battering goes it’s pretty damn great.
Flipping the tape over & we have the title track- and basically this is a continuation of the first track- though things get slightly more layered & pummeling in its attack. Once again we have the crisp ‘n’ crusty judder, sustained purring drone, and sub-tones- but we get the addition of this waving of buzzing & chugging tonality- this sounds to me like some form of modified & meaty guitar tone- which at times feels rather metal-based in it’s grim & dense droning, like span out necro riffing.
If your on the lookout for simplistic and damn nasty wall-matter that takes no prisoners, and literally grinds into your head like a sonic chainsaw then Destruyendo Una Obra de Arte is well worth track down- and as of this review, the label still has copies left of the twenty copies that were pressed of this release.
