Carved Image of Emptiness — Zinc Room
After reviewing and enjoying their(his/ hers or its!?) Rust in piece from last year it’s nice to hear some more work from this project. You certainly get a lot of bang for your buck here, sixteen tracks taking in 75 minutes of music. This feels an little more polished, grandly dark and filmatic than Rust in Piece and quite a lot more downbeat and atmospheric, sure there are big beat, crushing and noisy guitar moments here but for much of it’s time it settlers in creepy, edgy, atmospheric slowed beats, grimy horror soundtrack loops, haunted house piano’s, horrific synth throbs and sinister robot talk/ singing.
Though not the most ground shaking original thing you’ll hear- this certainly keeps you creeped out, amused and general entertained over its long running time. Showing that there’s really building and growth on the blocks set out by Rust in Piece.
