Cannibal Ritual — Return Of The Shamatari
The five tracks on offer here last between seventeen & twenty four minute mark, and each is a brutal & no thrills example of walled noise. The release opens with the track “Prey”, which is built around a continuing flowing mass of mid paced/ low-end meaty juddering noise that is roughly covered with a layer of stark semi hissing & muffled static.
Track two comes in the form of “Hunting The Swamps”, and this ‘wall’ is built around a mix of fixed & rapidly deep grating noise- this is mixed with slightly jittering & weaving thinner static texturing.
“Bizarre Rituals” takes in track number three, and it’s built around a thick & crusty lines of slurred ‘n’ slowed juddering. And these are topped off with a slightly thinner jittering noise tones
Track number four come in the form of “Eocannibals”, and is built around a consistent & fixed mid-paced crisp & meaty juddering, which is ribbed by rapid cluttering ‘n’ jittering sub-tones. This track feels like it’s continually fall into it’s self again & again, and also at the same time slowing it self down too- I’d say this is my highlight out of the five tracks here.
Lastly we have “On A Brutal Rampage” which conists of deep churning & rumbling textured noise mass that is pock marked with smaller jittering static grain.
Cannibal Ritual take on HNW was always brutal, no-nonsense, and uncomplicated, and that’s exactly what you get here again, but with possibly an extra layer of lo-fi grimness about the tracks. So if you after walled noise, that is most definitely lo-fi, old school, and truly intense “Return Of The Shamatari” is well worth a look.
