Blanketship — Teen Sounds

After the rather disappointing, pedestrian and ‘playing it safe’  Qulfus-Enos, the last release on the gigante sound label. Teens sounds sees the label/ collective returning to the weird, wonderfully, strange and often a little creepy sample based mayhem of the past.

Teen Sound’s 13 extremely varied, heady, dense and rewarding tracks are made from all manner of ; cheesy pop, easy listening music, old film music- That are smudged, blurred and rubbed together with all manner of old, weird, sometimes funny sometimes creepy dialogue samples, radio jingles, old ads or TV samples. Along with added avant guitar and lo-fi electronic elements and all manner of  sonic effects and filters. I mean who can not but love an album that has along it’s dizzy and psychedelic sample based journey samples of; Werner Herzog director commentary , The incredible string band and porn samples . I guess  Teen Sound’s nicely flits between been playful and  sinister- not going as far into the dark side as say their Vulcanus 68 project but been as dense and replayble as that classical release from gigante sound.

It’s great to see this label/ sonic collective returning to the wonderful and crazy genius of their early works. Long may the gigante sound ship sail on its strange yet very appealing shifting sonic seas. To find out more log into their home base here.
