at war with everything that moves on tracks — 060398 casualties 101
060398 casualties 101 is a twenty-three-minute trip into grim, cavernous, and loosely churning walled noise themed around a train accident where one hundred and one people lost their lives.
As far as I can gather, this is the first release from this German project- it’s a digital-only affair, with a monochrome/ high constant shot above the crash cover shot.
The single track runs at the 23.36 mark- and is built around a dull, constantly churning, and ill-defined wall of thick, billowing drone, swirling sear, cluttering rub, and distant rattling ‘n’ forking batter. There’s a wonderful, loose murkiness to the whole thing, which reminds me of early industrial music- though, of course, there is no real defined shape/ locked machine like tones present.
060398 casualties 101is a crude and nasty example of the walled noise form, which perfectly fits the hellish chaos of a train crash. Let's hope this is not just a one-off release, as it’s difficult to create muffled ‘n’ murky wall-craft that’s still atmospheric and compelling- but that’s exactly what's on offer here.
