This is Arise From Thorns first album which was actually released in 1999, but is now it's rereleased by Dark Symphonies. The music on 'Before an Audience of Stars' only hints at metal but is still interesting for metal fans. It's a combination of metal, folk, accoustic music and atmospheric music, a bit like 'The 3rd and The Mortal', also because the band has a great female vocalist which might be one of the most talented in this business. Her great voice combines perfectly with the music the rest of the band creates. Perfect atmospheric guitar parts and emotional keyboards is what you get. The music is very uplifting and fans from 'The Gathering' or Lacuna Coil might enjoy this album a lot.The album has 14 tracks and lasts almost 70 minutes. Dark Symphonies put a couple of live bonus tracks on the album, which have a great atmosphere and it would be quite an experience to see this band live. Most of the songs sound very dreamish and sometimes as a fearytale, don't understand me wrong, this is no gothic music, but the atmosphere is sometimes similar. Fans of progressive and intelligent music must check this band out. 'Arise From Thorns' recently changed their name to the shorter 'Brave' so keep your eyes and ears open for this highly talented 5-piece. With the proper marketing and distribution they could become a popular band.
