Andreas DavidsBeautiful Isolation

[Inner Demons Records — 2024]
Reviewed 21 March 2025by Roger Batty

Beautiful Isolation is a twenty-minute work that sits somewhere between lightly churning-grained drone ambience, expansively bright to lightly baying ambience, glitch-bound turn ‘n’ grate, and almost beatless electronica.

Andreas Davids is a sound maker from the Paderborn area of Germany- he’s seemingly been active since the early 2000’s, releasing under his/variations of it and projects such as An-Dy, Atamk, Böswillige Programmieranweisung, Der Schwarze Apt, Elliot (11), Explorer 5, Feedback Force, Garat, Grmblfx, Hackedei, Masselaufwerk, Monoblock C, NaXum, Orbicybe, Wampher, Wiederherstellungschirurgie, Xotox.

This release comes in the form of a 3-inch CDR release on Florida's Inner Demon Records. It’s ltd to forty-two copies and can be found here.

The CDR features a single 20.02 track. The track truly is a masterclass in blending/ shifting different types of ambience, drones, and glitching electro-tone texturing together. As Davids managers to swirl and ebb them together in a moody, eventful, yet never contrived manner. And by the end of the track, you do feel like you’ve gone on a slowly morphing sonic journey.

As far as I know/ can recall this is my first taster on Mr Davids work, and I must say he creates an engaging and eventful track here- and I’ll be certainly checking out some of his other work.
