Abyzm — In The Boundaries Of Nowhere
The two tracks featured here last between the 24 to 25 minute mark, and each track is (mainly) a fixed example of pummelling ‘n’ tight HNW. The first track is entitled “Vestigial”, and it's built around a set rumbling bass tones, which played over by an endless crackling ‘n’ crisp judder. The pace here is rapid & compressed, and the track rather constricts you’re brain with it’s taut yet very moorish battering- most of the tracks running time finds the ‘wall’ set in a fairly firm & set sturcture, but you do get the odd subtle deviation from the secondary crackling ‘n’ crisp tone. The only really noticeable shift happens toward the last half of the track, when we get this sudden one off whipping sway slicing through the textural grain of the track.
The second track is entitled “Myriad”, and once again this track taut ‘n’ contrasting in it’s attack. The ‘wall’s built around a rapid/brutal juddering ‘n’ buzzing bass tone, which is locked in by a thinner crisp jittering. The both elements stay fairly fixed for much of the tracks running time, through towards the middle to end of the track we get subtle pattern shifts occurring in both elements. Also like the first track we get one off textural events, and these happen on a few more occasions than the first track, but once again they are sudden whips or searings of texture, before we once more lock down again into (relatively) set walled noise. Once again it’s another fairly entrancing slice of taut walled noise
So summing- this CDR release offers up two slices of taut ‘n’ tense walled noise, that are mainly set towards a fixed & unrelenting setting. Neither of the ‘walls’ are really particularly original sounding, yet both are quite appealing in their constricting thick-ness.
