Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-R - Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama 2( Blu [Full Moon Features - 2023]

Thirty-three years later here’s the follow-up to the campy fantasy/ light horror romp that was Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama.  The new film is deeply soaked in its bright, breezy, and sleazy 1980s vibes. And while we once again get a mix of raunchy comedy, fantasy, and horror. The comedy and camp are to the fore. So as a result, we have a good, if not perfect follow-up, which I’m sure will be enjoyed by those who dug the first film. Here from Full Moon Features is a region-free Blu-Ray of the film.

Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama 2 is a 2022 film. It was director by 80’s scream queen Brinke Stevens, who was in the first film, and appears in a small role in this film- as a ghost of her character.  Alongside her is Michelle Bauer- who is also returning as a ghost of her character from the first film.

The film is just a feature-length at the sixty-two-minute mark. We kick off in prime 1980s slightly sleazed camp fashion, as we see a group of the film's female characters doing an aerobic, and very cleavage-heavy workout, over bright credits and cheesy retro pop music.

As we get into things we’re back at the Pi-Ep sorority house from the first film, where new two bubbly ‘n’ blond pledges are looking to get into the sorority. For the first half of the film, we see these two stripping off & showering while a group of horny teen boys watch via not-so-hidden cameras. Banter between the two, and the three members of sorority – one sightly geeky glasses-wearing sister, one more by the books sister, and housemother Auntie Spider- Kelli Maroney, taking over the role from Linnea Quigley- who played the character in the first film. At the last minute of the first half, we get the introduction of a third pledge- Bitsy (Glory Rodriguez) a motorbike jacket-wearing & mysterious brunette.

In the second half- the sisters, the three pledges, and the three teen boys who were watching the girls- all head to the bowling alley. And you guessed it, by accident, they rerelease the jive-talking Imp once again. With him giving a wish a piece to each- and things don’t, of course, go as they expect, for example, one of the number ask to be a great Rapper, and gets made into a bag of nuts which the Imp eats.

The tone of the film is very light ‘n’ breezy- with largely innuendo-driven humour, a fair bit of soaped-up or softly lit female flesh in its first half. Then we of course drop into the more fantasy side of things, with very subtle horror touches. The acting is pretty much on par for this type of thing, though Maroney makes a good/ believable replacement for Quigley. And Rodriguez works well in the bad biker girl role, who links back to the first film. On the whole, I’d say you’ll have to have liked the original Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama- as once again this is a very camp, silly, and sleazy B-movie. Yes, it’s not as good as the original- been not as funny, or effective as the first film- but it’s an ok sequel, which is better than an all-out disappointing- which some have unjustly written the film off as.

On the extras side, we don’t get much- there’s an interview with Brinke Stevens from the early 2000s, discussing the first film. And onset footage of the actor who voiced the Imp in the first film- together these run just over three minutes. We get an original trailer, and Full Moon trailer reel.

In, finishing I’d say if you liked the original film- you’ll enjoy what Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama 2 has to offer. It’s far from a masterpiece, but a passable slice of campy ‘n’ sleazy fantasy fun…. simply nothing more, and nothing less.
