Endometrium Cuntplow/Sunken Landscapes - Split [Nihil Underground - 2009]

This is a split between two California based noise makers/ caustic Psychedelic mood setters in the shape of Endometrium Cuntplow & Sunken Landscapes. As the covers of comicbook picture of a Merman suggests there’s more than a little aquatic & sea bound feel to the sonics with-in this CDR.

Up first are the five Endometrium Cuntplow tracks which fall between just under a minute to the four & half minute mark a-piece. The tracks offer a often quite active, caustic but atmospheric journey between slow juddering & sea blue tipped noise tones, dreamy yet often drifting to caustic drone circles, buried & sun yellowed meeting of industrial & psychedelic sound hazes, and amp-up Throbbing Gristle like ugly grey synth drones mixed in with space bound & high-pitched peaks.

Sunken Landscapes just brings to the table one track entitled ‘Endless Trip’ and this takes up the last nineteen minutes of the CDR. The piece is built around sinking to the ocean floor, air bubble like & slightly haphazard blues  tinged guitar texturing, whale like electronic moans & aquatic peddle delay or ebb. Plus some low down noise judders or sudden raises of noise roars - through the piece is more atmospheric than noise bound really. the track really does manage to give one the feeling of slowly drifting and falling though a mysterious sea past slowly darting fish life & vast whales, through sunken wooden ship wreaks spotted with gold coins , and down, down to Davey Jones locker.

All told a highly rewarding split that nicely mixtures together noise matter, drifting & watery psychedelic texturing, and a very distinctively mysterious aquatic air.  Both parties tracks nicely complementing each other & keep the sea bound theme of the whole album alive very well through-out.
