Drevne Bolesti - Self Titled [Zvukovina - 2009]Drevne Bolesti is a HNW project that brings together Norwegian Andreas Brandal (Flesh Coffin, Hour of the Wolf, etc) & Sarajevo based Sebastian Crnich (Smrznik, Ïîòåðÿííàÿ Ãîðëà ). This self titled is the projects first release & it offers up one long 40 minute track entitled 'Ancient Diseases' which is a thick & weather beaten wall of crunch & batter. For me the track has quite a feeling of being on ships deck in the middle of an often slow monition storm as the pair summon up this thick & slow-mo rippling carpet of salty & wind battered crunch 'n' ripping tone dwell. There seems to be two layers of tone present for most of the track length; one low-down rumble & purr like, and the other more crunching, aggravated & ripping wind like. Through-out the track the pair weave a dense & tight tapestry of crunching, ripping & tearing tonality; which over time starts to become rather hypnotic & trance inducing. There are no great shifts in the sound during the pieces slow battering sonic life just rewarding micro shifts & nudges in the thick sound soup , which keeps ones attention & interest for the whole of the pieces 40 minute run. So all told a rewarding slice of sea storm bound wall making which really mangers over time to suck you into its world of crunch, batter, rip & tear.
