Occlusion - 59: No Input Wall [Self release - 2023]From late last year 59: No Input Wall finds this French walled noise project in an ANW setting- offering out a droning and windswept wall that slides in at the twenty-two-minute mark This is a self-released digital affair. As with all of this project's work, cover artwork we get a picture of a medical operation- though this isn’t as gory as some of the projects cover- as it shows an inflated belly with several pole-like instruments sticking out of it. The release can be found here.
The single track is entitled “184”, and comes in at the twenty-two minute and twenty-four-second mark. The ‘wall’ is centred around a very muffled- rapid bass drone- this is topped with jittering ‘n’ light skittering low-key static tones. The whole thing has a decidedly washed-out/ weathered quality.
The whole ‘wall’ is rather soothing- yet there is also a pull to the whole thing, as one's mind keeps trying to fully define the subtle static tones- yet you can never fully make it out. I’d say length-wise this is about right- with the track making for an appealing example of washed-out ambient walling.
So, 59: No Input Wall rather finds occlusion is a decidedly more pared back & muffled setting. This release dates from November 2023, and since then there have been no more releases- so I do hope all is well with this project, and I look forward to more work- as it was one of the quietly prolific, but consistent projects in the euro walled noise scene.
