Oxygen Destroyer - Sinister Monstrosities Spawned By the Unfathomable [Redefining Darkness - 2021]

With all the horror movie-inspired bands out there, it's great to see something different - Kaiju inspired metal! Big beast loving Oxygen Destroyer is back with their second album, the massively titled Sinister Monstrosities Spawned By the Unfathomable Ignorance of Humankind. This death outfit from Seattle brings forth the speed and rage on par with that of an oversized, mutated monster. Pummeling, growling, and shredding their way through eight tracks, Oxygen Destroyer's latest will get you headbanging enough to take your breath away.

Sidestepping the celluloid inspired trope of opening with a movie sample, "Merciless Embodiment of Everlasting Death" has a monstrous creation set the stage for the kaiju goodness to follow. Sinister is a great mix of old school and modern death. Taking the older song structures, riffing, and vocals and combining that with tight, modern, high in the mix drumming, Oxygen Destroyer craft together their sound by mixing it up and keeping it lively and listenable. The speed of Sinister is impressive and it's propulsive nature makes this album instantly a hit. Flashing back to the thrashy, jangly, early death days, this isn't mired in overproduction, but is still very tight and sounds great. With gigantic buzzsaws, booming drums, and vile growls, Oxygen Destroyer perfectly embodies the kaiju aesthetic and city leveling vibe. Straight forward with very few frills, this is destruction pure and simple.

For those looking for a classic death approach with a fun thematic twist, look no further than Oxygen Destroyer's Sinister Monstrosities Spawned By The Unfathomable Ignorance of Humankind. Playing on the monster theme with monster sound, this sophomore effort from Seattle's shredders delivers the beastly goods. Fast, aggressive, and fun, Sinister will get any death metaller out of their chair and stomping around. So, feel free to trample a miniature city while you listen and mosh
