Vomir / Chier - Vomir / Chier [Marbre Negre - 2016]Here’s a very nicely presented HNW split bringing together two respected names from the French wall noise scene. The release comes in the form of a C62, with the same two tracks( one apiece) on each side of tape, so in reality you only get just over thirty minutes of noise. The release brings together Vomir- who will be familiar to anyone who has even a passing interest in the wall noise genre, as he's one of the most know & uncompromising names in the scene. And Chier- a fairly recent though highly prolific( putting over 50 + release in it’s year of existence) & praised project. The plain white cassette comes in a small white cardboard box/ sleeve- which features a pull out draw. The wrap around cover features blood red & black illustration of two skulls/ rotten heads, with white text printed over the top.. You also get two pin on badge and stickers- these each feature the projects logo/ related imagery.
Each project offers up a near 15 minute track, and first out of the door is the Vomir track. This is a prime example of unflinching & unmoving void worship from Vomir- the ‘wall’ blends together a constantly flowing yet thin noise drone rush/ rumble, with a more rapid & judder chopping pattern. These elements are fed out in a fixed, fairly simple, yet no less worthy example of dense yet crude ‘wall-making’. The second track of course comes from Chier, and this ‘wall’ brings together a rapid yet highly muffled rumble, with layers of chalky noise texturing that sits somewhere between dense drilling & cumbersome juddering. This ‘wall’ really nicely blends together dense cotton wool like suffocation, with thick pummelling weight. For most of it’s length the ‘wall’ remains a firmly focused, but in its last few minutes Chier adds on extra layers of thick muffled buffeting to great effect. All told this is a great split featuring two slices of French wall-noise intensity. This release comes in a edition of 40 copies, but I can’t imagine those will be around for long as both projects have their following, and really anything with the Vomir name on goes quick- so act fast, or regret it !.
