RRR - Body Connection [Required Rate of Return - 2015]Here we have the first part of a recent trilogy of releases by this French HNW/ nasty noise/ power electronics project. Presented here for the listeners (dis)pleasure is a taut & dense slab of buzzing industrial drone craft that’s topped with a pained crust of static noise. The disc comes in a slim spine DVD case, and this takes in black & white artwork- on the front we have a picture of two lots of skeletal human remains locked together, and on the back cover we have minimal white text against a black back ground. The single track on offer here comes in at just shy of the thirty minute mark. And this is built around a fixed & tense mesh of buzzing/grim synth drone, and a simple juddering ‘n’ jittering pattern. The synth drone has a nicely nasty buzz-saw like feel to it, while the juddering ’n’ jittering elements have a lower-to-mid ranged sort of taut crustiness about them. This is now my second taster of this projects work( after 2015’s Obscene Death Pulsion), and on the whole this is a satisfying enough nasty bit of taut drone ‘n’ static noise. I wanted to give this a 2 & ½ mark, but as we don’t deal in half’s here I’ll give it a 3. Roger Batty
