Jungfrau unter Kannibalen / Macumba Sexu - Split tape [ BTR - 2009]

This 90 minute split tape offers up two sides noise, over layered soundtrack samples, dialogue, sexual moans & voodoo drums that is meant to be a tribute to the great & prolific Spanish horror/ sex director Jess Franco & frankly both sides of tape are very sloppy, messy & thrown together both sonically & artwork wise too.

After a quick scan on the net this seems to be both projects first release & really both projects are very amateurish & bedroom-like in their feel & sonic approach to sound. First-off your not sure which side is which of the tape as either side has been number or labled in anyway- so you don’t know weather your getting Jungfrau unter Kannibalen or Macumba Sexual, but really it doesn’t matter much because both sides sound pretty much the same in their make-up. Basically what you get here is a ton of Jess Franco movie samples, soundtrack elements, dialogue snippets & sexual moans all thrown together & on top of each other in a seemingly random mish-mash of thick sound. Some of it has more voodoo drum learning’s, but even these moments are messy, unfocused, and seemingly random & ultimately  become very trying even after a few minutes.  Then we have the cassette sleeve which is basically just a single piece of black & white photocopied thin white paper with barely legible typewriter typed text on the back & the amateurish pencil drawn logos  of both projects on the front cover that look like something a pre-teen would do…really zero effort has been made with design, layout or artwork concept.

I’m all for people setting up their own labels & putting out their own music; but really when it's of such a base & talentless level as this your exploiting your listeners & giving the noise scene in general a very bad name indeed- a really an avoid at all costs situation.
