Vomir - Here Goes Nothing   [Decimation Sociale - 2015]

Here Goes Nothing offers up a seventy minute dose of dense, crude & totally un-relenting walled noise from one of the masters of the form. The release comes in the form of a pro-pressed CD, coming in edition of 200 copies- so all been well you’ll still be able to hook a copy of this.

It’s fair to say that Vomir is the most known & recognized name with-in the walled noise genre, but that  fact has never lessened the pure sonic intensity, overloaded audio brutality, or unflinching focus of the projects work.  And this new work is no exception to this rule, as what you get here is a classic example of no-holds barred wall-craft, with that distinctively crude & nasty Vomir feel.

The CD comes in a doubled panelled black & white card sleeve, and this takes in crude cartoon like drawings of a Vomir live show- taking in a series of figures with bags on their heads.

The single track featured here comes in at just under the seventy five minute mark, and is built around the following elements: a slurred  & muddy  like locked churning, a cold & grim static pelting, and a murky rumble/ under-judder. Each of these noise patterns seem to moving at a slightly different speeds, & this creates that classic ‘wall’ sensation of shifting & moving patter nation- the more your mind focuses in on it.

To try & present the ‘wall’ in descriptive way I guess you’d say it’s like a blend of the following sounds/ settings- several aged cement mixers full with thickened liquid, endless churning of thick & lumpy tar, cold & thick winter rain/ sleet down pour, and the slow glugging/ spurting of a broken sewage pipe.

Over the last five or six years I’ve heard & reviewed around 50 of this projects releases, and one would imaging by this point I might have become tired of this project sound( one would expect this with any artists, let alone one that focuses in on such narrow & extreme sonic settings). But oddly I’m just as keen  & hooked as ever, but I guess it helps  Here Goes Nothing is a great example at the project at it’s most rewarding & brutally hypnotic, with Vomir offering up a great & lengthy track to let yourself completely drift off into.
